These were the homepages of the Portstewart Sub-Aqua Club
So any information contained on this site does not express the approved views of the Portstewart SAC but might reflect the views of the majority of its members. Currently the branch has no committee approved internet presence. Until this has been sorted, I invite you to have a look around the "unapproved" pages to see if this branch might be for you. You then might even want to try to apply joining the branch?
The Branch in Brief
This branch is situated on the north coast of Northern Ireland, which means that it has a big variety dives sites on its doorstep:
The main launchpad used to Ballycastle, from where Rathlin and its 300 know wrecks - one of them being one of the UK top 100 wrecks - is only a 15 minute boat ride away. But Rathlin has far more to offer: Basking sharks, feed conger eels, wall dives, rare marine life and any depth you wish to progress to. Alternatively you can head east and dive the Giants Causeway!
A short boatride to the West of Portstewart lies Donegal, which has seen its fair share of ships sunk during the centuries: From the Spanish Armada, troop carriers and U-boats were lost here at the end of the so called "North West Passage"- The branch lies spot on in the middle of these great dive sites!
You havn't dived yet? The branch starts the basic branch training in January and continues all year round.
Please note that the committee is currently trying to limit the access to the branch by trained divers: if you are a trained diver you will be subjected to an unspecified veting process. This is to prevent unwanted people joining the branch and for the benefit of the current members.
